Beef prices have increased by 5c/kg to 10c/kg this week as supplies tighten.
Steers are trading in smaller numbers on a base of €3.90/kg to €3.95/kg, with heifers from €4.00/kg to €4.05/kg but regular sellers with greater bargaining power are getting 5c/kg to 10c/kg higher. IFA’s beef chair Angus Woods reports heifers selling to a base of €4.15/kg to €4.20/kg.
The mart trade has also lifted as agents turn to the ring to supplement throughput.
