Traditional breeds dominated the 70 heifers again, with near finished heifers meeting good demand. Prices ranged from €350 to €700 with their weight:
Hereford x Limousin Sept 2014, 455kg, €980, €2.15/kg
2 Hereford June 2014, 645kg, €1,260, €1.95/kg
4 Angus Feb-June 2014, 375kg, €750, €2/kg
4 Angus Feb -Aug 2014 412kg, €815, €1.98/kg
Calves
There were over 70 calves on offer today. Dairy farmers’ early breeding season patterns were beginning to show with Friesian bulls being the most predominant type on view. Friesian bull calves were back slightly on last week and made €60 to €130 per head while continental calves made up to €450. Hereford and Angus calves were in short supply compared to recent weeks, with bull calves making €180 to €320 and Angus and Hereford heifers ranged from €160 to €300.

Dry cows made from €1 to €750 over the €/kg.
