Butter rose by 3.4% overall following a fall at the previous auction in early July.

While butter has been over €6,000/t in Europe, this is the first time butter has broke the $6,000 ceiling at the GDT auction.

Worryingly the price of skimmed milk powder (SMP) fell by 3.2% to $2,024.

On the other side of the powder complex the price of whole milk powder (WMP) rose slightly by 0.3% to $3,114.

At the last auction, SMP stood at $2,090 while WMP was traded for $3,111 two weeks ago.

Last month, the GDT dropped 0.4%. Overall prices at the GDT auction have remain steady over the previous four auctions.
