In stark contrast to the first sale after the Brexit vote last June, Theresa May formally announcing that Britain was leaving the EU had no real effect on prices in Bandon on Monday.

Despite a horrible day of rain in west Cork, demand from grass buyers maintained a strong trade for yearling stores.

Friesian and Angus-crosses made up the most of what was on offer, with some Hereford and continental-cross cattle featuring, albeit in smaller numbers.

Friesian bullocks made from €200 to €550 over the €/kg, with outliers selling for up to €1.90/kg.

Beef-crosses sold from €300 to €870 with their weight.
