Adverse weather conditions and rain have resulted in more stock coming to mart rings off grass. Demand has not been as strong in the last few days. As a result, some slight downwards price pressure has occurred.
Again the most of the pressure is on lesser quality cattle with good quality types continuing to sell at steady prices. Reducing grass supplies and unsettled weather is set to encourage more cattle out in the coming week.
Steers

Good quality steers from 500kg to 600kg are currently making €2.00/kg to €2.10/kg. Better quality U grades are making from €2.10/kg to €2.30/kg, however lesser quality types are frequently selling from €1.80/kg to €1.90/kg. Farmers remain the most active for cattle at the ringside with increasing feeder demand in some areas.
Heifers
Continental heifers from 500kg to 600kg are selling mainly from €2.00/kg to €2.20/kg for average quality types, while U grades continue to make from €2.15/kg to €2.35/kg. Lighter store heifers are a solid trade and are selling from €2.00/kg to €2.20/kg for average quality types. Better quality types continue to be a steady trade and are selling from €2.00/kg to €2.40/kg. The weanling trade has seen average prices reduce slightly in recent days, but the trade as a whole remains positive.
Bulls
Bulls from 300kg to 400kg are selling mainly from €2.15/kg to €2.35/kg on average, but prices are slightly stronger in areas of a stronger suckler influence. Better quality types are making up to €2.60/kg. Light weanlings remain in low supply and prices are steady.
Weanling bulls from 200kg to 300kg are selling from €2.40/kg to €2.65/kg on average with better quality types making from €2.80/kg to €3.00/kg.
