In a statement to the Irish Farmers Journal, the Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI) said it was investigating a fatal incident on a farm on 30 June in the Derrygonnelly area, Co Fermanagh.

“Our sympathies are with the man’s family at this most difficult time. We have no further comment to make at this stage of our investigation,” the HSENI said.

Farm Safety Affiliates

The news came as the HSENI and the Department of Agriculture are launching the Farm Safety Affiliates scheme as part of Farm Safety Week.

The scheme aims to enrol the agri-businesses and organisations working with farmers on a daily basis, such as machinery dealers, banks and co-ops, in efforts to get the farm safety message across.
