A further 158 farmers are to receive their Green Low-carbon Agra-environment Scheme (GLAS) payments this week totalling €528,000.

This comes after some 186 applicants were paid last week bringing to 34,868 the number who have now been paid.

This represents over 95% of all applicants to GLAS I and II.

A Department of Agriculture spokesperson said it has now completed initial processing of every application received for GLAS I and II.

“Of these 36,700 applications, 1,400 applicants have been informed that further information is required of them before their application can be advanced and it is now a matter for the applicant to consider how they wish to proceed.”

GLAS cases reviewed

This leaves 500 remaining applicants whose cases are being reviewed by the Department and every effort is being made to advance these as quickly as possible, the Department has said.

In May, the Department issued over €7m in GLAS payments, with over 98% of all GLAS I applicants having now received their payment.

GLAS 3

In respect of GLAS 3 applications awaiting decisions, these are cases which also have an active application in GLAS I or II and the applicants concerned must decide which scheme they wish to remain active in, according to the Department.

The Department is contacting these applicants to finalise these decisions.

Meanwhile, some 939 farmers are awaiting processing for their Agri-Environment Options Scheme (AEOS) payments.
