Prices for green grain will be finalised around the country following the price announcements by Glanbia last week. They agreed to pay a basic green price of €130/t for feed barley, which was higher than had been indicated a few weeks previously.

Glanbia’s price for feed wheat is €134/t and it will pay €120/t for feed oats that were not produced on contract. Their malting barley price was set at €146/t and this is also likely be the price that Dairygold will pay, subject to approval. All Glanbia prices are for grain at 20% moisture and are exclusive of VAT. Glanbia Co-op will pay an additional €5/t bonus to shareholder growers for all green grain delivered prior to 30 September.

These prices follow the Dairygold announcement earlier last week and both sets of shareholders will receive similar prices. Centenary Co-op is paying €136/t, including their loyalty bonus, and there is also an additional transport payment in this case.

These prices reflect the €135/t and above paid by many smaller merchants who can add value by producing and selling feed.
