An agricultural consultant who lodged a formal complaint with the Ombudsman about GLAS has had his payment cleared by officials.
Roscommon-based Eoghan Finneran complained to the Ombudsman on behalf of himself and his clients about the payment delays and lack of communication from the Department of Agricuture’s environmental schemes unit in Johnstown Castle.
On 28 June, he received a call from the environmental schemes unit in Johnstown Castle to say that his mapping errors were being dealt with and his GLAS payment would be issued in the next payment run.

Regardless of the payment, the consultant intends to pursue his complaint with the Ombudsman’s office. He has also written to the Department on behalf of a number of his clients who also had mapping errors.
Speaking to the Irish Farmers Journal, Finneran warned that the nutrient management plans required for the 15% final GLAS payment could result in further mapping problems.
