Ring three in Kilkenny Mart today saw good demand for continental store bullocks. One lot of five Limousin-cross February and March 2015-born bullocks, weighing an average of 530kg, made €590 with the weight (€2.11/kg).

Meanwhile, dairy-bred animals were selling at slightly lower prices. One 440kg Friesian bullock born in February 2015 sold for €250 with the weight (€1.57/kg). One lot of three Hereford-cross bullocks weighing an average of 460kg, born from March to June 2015, sold for €490 with the weight (€2.07/kg).

Heifers

Elsewhere in the heifer ring, over 200 lots were on offer. Sample prices:

A lot of four Limousin-cross heifers, weighing an average of 442kg, sold for €850/head (€1.92/kg).

Two Aberdeen Angus-cross heifers, weighing an average of 505kg, sold for €1,010/head (€2.00/kg).

Two Charolais-cross heifers, weighing an average of 360kg, sold for €885/head (€2.46/kg).

One Limousin-cross heifer weighing 400kg made €840 (€2.10/kg).
