I was talking to a farmer and hay and straw delivery man in recent days.

He’s from the west so he’s been getting calls more frequently recently.

He was collecting money from a customer who made the observation that in previous years he would be giving money to his children heading off to college for the year right about now.

Now he’s relying on those children to help pay his fodder bills, given where farming has gone.

It does raise concerns about a potential fodder shortage in the west this winter following the heavy rains in the summer.
