Saturday’s sale at Maam Cross mart saw a packed yard of over 1,200 sheep on offer on the day and there were farmers from near and wide also.
The trade was strong with top quality lots selling to just under €170/head.
The majority of good quality hogget ewes sold from €140 to €160, with plainer types making from €130/head and upwards. There was a large entry of ewe lambs on sale on the day also.

Demand was strong with farmers from all over the country bidding. Prices for good quality Mule cross ewe lambs ranged mainly from €100 to €120/head.
There was a good entry of light mountain store lambs on offer also, prices ranged mainly from €30 to €55.
Some light ewe lambs on the day made from €60 to €85 with quality and weight being the main parameters determining price.
