In line with the rest of the EU, Italian milk production fell in June by 2.7% on 2015 and 1.1% decrease on the three-year average. Total collection for the month equalled to 892kt.
June was the first negative month for Italian milk production, with levels 100kt down on May’s amount.
Milk collections for the year to the end of June accumulate to 5.69m tonnes, a 2.2% increase on the same time last year.

Drop in French cow slaughters for June
Meanwhile, following on from a large increase in French cow slaughters in May, June’s figures have eased somewhat, by almost 18%.
However, the figure remains ahead of the 2015 rate and 12.4% above the three-year average.
In the month of June, a total of 142,950 cows were slaughtered, bringing the figures for the calendar year to June up to 885,080, a 5% rise on the same time last year.
