As I gather it, O’Toole broke the news to Bord Bia colleagues on Friday that he was leaving for pastures new. Well, not so much pastures, but rivers and seas.

O’Toole is taking up the vacant CEO position with Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM). This is the position that new Bord Bia CEO Tara McCarthy had up until her appointment in the food board last October.

McCarthy initially left Bord Bia to take up the chief executive role with BIM.

It’s somewhat of a merry-go-round between the two state agencies.

BIM is responsible “for developing the seafish and aquaculture industries in Ireland”.

O’Toole played an instrumental role in the establishment and roll out of Bord Bia’s flagship initiative Origin Green.

No start date for O’Toole with BIM has been given.
