Laois and Offaly

Auctioneer Matt Dunne, Portarlington, is currently handling the sale of three farms in the Laois/Offaly regions, all of which will be auctioned at the end of the month.

First up is a 39-acre fragmented residential farm at Ballymorris, Portarlington, Co Laois, which goes to auction on 28 March next.

Within walking distance of Portarlington, the property is being offered in a range of lots. These include a four-bed bungalow in need of some modernisation on 1.5 acres, which is guided at €110,000.

The second lot is circa 4.8 acres with extensive road frontage and mains water (guided at €25,000). A further 4.23 acres with good road and laneway frontage has also a guide of €25,000, as does the fourth lot comprising a 3.3-acre field, just a five-minute walk from the town.

The fifth lot, comprising the farmyard on 12.2 acres, is guided at €100,000, while a 5.5-acre piece of arable land complete with 300 metres of frontage to the Canal Road has a guide of €60,000.

The final parcel, comprising circa eight acres, has lane access only and is currently in scrub and trees. The agent is open to offers for this lot.

Thatched cottage

The day after on 29 March, Matt will auction a cottage residence on 39 acres at Geashill, Co Offaly, in the Gandon Inn, Emo, at 3pm.

This property comes with a two-bed thatched cottage which has been rewired and replumbed, has oil-fired underfloor central heating and tongue and groove ceilings. The cottage will be offered as a separate lot on circa four acres and is guided in the region of €99,000.

The second lot comprising 13 acres is laid out in three grass fields and has a guide of €80,000 while the final circa 22 acres is located down Killellery Lane and runs alongside the railway line. Laid out in three grass fields, the 22 acres is guided at €115,000.

73 acres near Clobullogue

On the same day, a 73-acre residential property on the Kildare/Offaly border at Clonavoe, Clobullogue, Co Offaly, will also be auctioned.

Just 2.5 miles from Clonbullopgue village, the farm is split by the road with an eight-acre field located directly across from the house on 65 acres.

With the exception of a few acres of bog at the back of the farm, the land is currently in grass and is laid out in eight principal fields and a paddock.

Water is supplied from a mains line and large mature hedges give plenty of shelter. The house is in a semi-derelict condition and needs complete modernisation.

The farm is being offered in its entire or in two separate lots that include the eight-acre field across the road (guided at €45,000) and the remaining circa 65 acres (guided at €4,800/acre).

Auctioneer Brian Gleeson, Dungarvan, is handling the sale of a 24-acre parcel of land at Ballynamona, Glanworth, Co Cork.

Located in a progressive dairying area, the land is currently in grass, comes with good road frontage and is situated on the main Glanworth to Mitchelstown road. The guide is in the region of €12,000/acre.
