Grant aid is payable at the rate of 40% on the lesser of the approved reference cost or actual cost of the investment, excluding VAT. Higher grant aid of 60% is payable for eligible young, trained farmers. The minimum spend is €2,000 excluding VAT. The timeframe from application to approval to complete works is generally about six months. Where planning permission is required, this must be obtained before completing an application.
