The store bullock trade at Headford Mart on Saturday last was very strong. The majority of good-quality bullocks over 500kg sold from €2.10/kg to €2.20/kg, but numbers over 500kg on offer were not that high.
Lighter stores from 400kg to 500kg were abundant, as were buyers. All fancy types were met with a solid trade and prices were similar to last week. The average continental bullock made about €2.20/kg to €2.40/kg, with fancy types making well over €2.50/kg.
The heifer trade was not as brisk as the bullocks, but nevertheless, prices were still quite strong for good-quality heifers.
