No sign of relief in the weather meant another tough day trading at the Midland and Westerns multibreed sale in Carrick over the weekend. A 46% clearance meant 27 of the 59 animals on offer sold. Averages were poor throughout the breeds, and back significantly on previous years.
Trade saw a top of €3,800 for the day's reserve overall Charolais champion Moheedian Milo. This September 2016 born bull is out of Fieldview Hendry while the dam is a homebred Cloverfield Excellent daughter. Milo was bred and exhibited by Val Keane, Boyle, Co. Roscommon.
Securing the second top price and overall Charolais championship was Limkiln Nerves from Richard Hackett, Co. Clare. Nerves is sired by French AI bull Virtuose and is out of homebred dam Limkiln Cascade. This bull sold for €3,100.
