Fire units attended a blaze that broke out in a field of straw in Co Cork.

Units of the Cork County Fire Service attended a fire in a straw field in the Doneraile area of north Cork this afternoon.
According to C103 Cork, the alarm was raised at 1.30pm and a number of houses in the area had to be evacuated as a safety precaution.
Smoke from the blaze also caused difficulties for motorists on the Buttevant to Doneraile road.

Whole crop fire
This follows a similar incident in Tipperary yesterday when a catch crop ignited due to a spark from the combine blades.
Quick responses from the farmer and the local fire brigade saved the day in that situation, but farmers are being reminded and warned of dangers surrounding fire this dry harvest season.
