A status yellow warning remains in place until next Wednesday 1 August, with soil moisture deficits to remain in excess of 70mm in many parts of Leinster and Munster.

Friday morning is forecast to be cloudy in the east with some lingering rain or drizzle. It will be brighter in central parts with some sunny breaks, according to Met Éireann.

In the west, showers or longer spells of rain will develop and will spread eastwards in the afternoon and evening.

Met Éireann has said it will be cooler with highest temperatures of 17 to 21°C and moderate south to southwest breezes.

Outbreaks of rain are to continue on Friday night, with potentially a few heavy falls. Minimum temperatures of 9 to 12°C.

Saturday

Saturday looks set to be a fresh and breezy day with sunny spells and scattered showers, merging into longer spells of rain in the north.

Highest temperatures will range between 15 to 19°C. It is forecast to be drier on Saturday night with minimum temperatures of 11 to 13°C.

Sunday

Rain is forecast for a time on Sunday morning, becoming drier in the afternoon with sunshine and a few showers. It will be warm with maximum temperatures of 19 to 24°C and possibly quite blustery.

The latest indications from Met Éireann for next week suggest that it will be fresher again with scattered outbreaks of rain.

The rain is expected to be most prevalent in the north and west, while the east and south are likely to stay mainly dry. Temperatures will be close to or above the seasonal average.
