With the stocking rate at 2.6 cows/ha, Greenfield is getting every chance it can to fill up on feed. It’s a long time since the farm was at this stocking rate in August. The next cows to leave are ones that scan not in-calf.
The growth rate averaged over 54kg/day for the last number of days, so the farm is building up with grass.
A bag of nitrogen was spread at 18 units/acre (ASN 27% N + Sulphur) late last week to give those paddocks that haven’t got nitrogen since mid-June a kickstart. We have another application of 18 units/acre left to spread at the end of August or early September. That will be the last of the total allocation of nitrogen for the year.
