Milk supply volumes seem to have recovered for August, with most processors reporting an increase in supply.

Glanbia estimates that its supply for August is 6% ahead of the same month last year. Similarly, Kerry is up 4% this month, but says that this week’s recovery is up 5% compared with the same week last year. Kerry’s year-to-date supply is 2.5% behind 2017.

Similarly, Dairygold has seen milk supplies ahead of last year in recent weeks. It said that last week’s volumes were up 6.4% compared with the same week last year.

Arrabawn is also up 1.5% for August supplies.

In July, those processors reported that milk supplies were back by up to 3%.

Elsewhere, Lakeland is again reporting increased supply with its milk volumes up 8% this month and 5% last month and Aurivo’s milk supply has increased by approximately 9% for the month of August.

August 2017 supplies were 786m litres (CSO), so a 5% average lift in 2018 would see another 40m litres produced in August compared with the same month last year.
