Boortmalt is offering its contracted malting barley growers the option to forward sell up to 20% of their 2019 contracted tonnage. Growers have until 30 September to take up an offer of €230/t for green barley.
In a statement, the malting company said this measure is part of its ongoing commitment to the future sustainability of its local sourcing of malting barley.
This follows an announcement earlier in the week that growers are to receive €30/t price top up on 2018 prices as well as a €10/t distilling premium.

IFA grain chair Mark Browne welcomed the announcement, saying: “We're welcoming a fixed price of €230/t. These are the prices that are needed for a sustainable future.” He concluded by saying that the IFA will be finalising the remainder of the 2019 deal shortly.
