Day three of the National Ploughing Championships has drawn to a close and, despite some heavy downpours, spirits among the public and exhibitors alike were high as business as usual resumed.
The youth showed they were not to be taken lightly as two student-led company projects landed the People's Choice Award and the One to Watch award. Monte-Loader and Machine Eye were the two winners.
Following the last leg of the Drive to Remember by Embrace FARM on day one, the charity has launched its first annual report as it is now a registered charity. The testimonies from those using the charity's services served as reminder of just how vital Embrace FARM is.
Despite the opportunity for exhibitors and the public to enjoy everything the Ploughing has to offer for an additional day on Friday, thoughts have turned to where next year's event will be. The NPA has said that Carlow has not been finalised yet.
Micheál Martin visited the site for day three and said low-cost credit in Budget 2019 would be crucial for farmers facing a fodder shortage this winter.
Credit issues were also raised at the AIB shed talks, where one Teagasc specialist said many farmers had bought their way out of trouble. The effects of this would only be felt tomorrow, he said.
