Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed will lead a trade mission to Indonesia and Malaysia this Saturday 27 October.
“[It will have] a dairy agenda because we have market access for dairy and we do believe there are opportunities for dairy within that market,” Bord Bia CEO Tara McCarthy told the Irish Farmers Journal. “We’ll also be looking to chase the beef market access issues within that on a political level.”
Minister Creed said Indonesia and Malaysia are “two large and growing economies which have been identified as priority markets for the further growth of Irish agri-food exports. Market development is a key theme of our shared Food Wise 2025 strategy for the sustainable growth of the sector, and increasing our share of international markets is an important response to the threat posed by Brexit”.
There will be another trade mission to China next month.
