The Irish Farmers Journal understands that some 80,400t of skim milk powder (SMP) were sold out of EU intervention stocks on Tuesday 8 January.

The SMP sold at a minimum price of €1554.90/t in the first tender sale of 2019.

This is an improvement of roughly 7% on the minimum price paid at the last tender sale, where it was €1,451/t.

In this sale, some 13,125/t of Irish SMP was for sale.

Following the sale, some 22,000t of SMP remain in intervention stocks.

Some 380,000t of SMP has been sold out of intervention over the last 12 months.
