Gardaí were present during the raids. However, they were only providing backup as a “precautionary measure”.
The Irish Farmers Journal understands the investigation centres around the re-tagging of stolen cattle for resale by several members of a local family.
A spokesperson for the Department declined to comment on the specifics of the case as the investigation is ongoing.
