I see a Northern Ireland company is seeking approval from the Department of Agriculture to sell cattle identification tags to farmers.

Countryside Services Ltd, headquartered in Dungannon, Co Tyrone, confirmed to The Dealer that it is working to become the fourth approved cattle tag supplier in the Republic. It sees an opportunity to service livestock farmers in border counties.

Countryside Services is a commercial subsidiary of the Ulster Farmers’ Union that holds close to 50% market share of cattle tag sales in Northern Ireland and also sells tags across Britain.

It was appointed sole Northern Ireland distributor of the Caisley brand of tags in October 2018.
