The Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed has no plans to introduce mandatory electronic identification (EID) tagging for cattle, a source close to the minister has told the Irish Farmers Journal. Last year, the minister said that he was considering the possibility of introducing EID cattle tags.
EU member states had to decide whether or not to have voluntary or mandatory EID tags for cattle from 18 July 2019.
