After 11 consecutive rises, prices at Tuesday’s Global Dairy Trade auction fell by 1.2%.
Butter prices at the latest auction fell 3.2% while cheddar prices were up 15.2%.
Skim milk powder (SMP) prices were up marginally, by 0.5%, while whole milk powder (WMP) prices were down 2.1%.
Key results
As reported in last week's Irish Farmers Journal cheese and SMP prices are rising across Europe, with the arrival of summer giving a lift to cheese markets.
Spot prices for cheddar and gouda lifted last week to €3,200/t and €3,000/t. respectively.
