The amount of money received in direct payments by farms in which Larry Goodman and members of his family are directors has fallen.

In 2018, Branganstown Farms and Glydee Farms in the Ardee area of Co Louth received €218,578 and €194,662 in EU CAP money respectively.

This is a drop on the farms’ 2017 payments, which totalled over €423,102.

The payment made to Branganstown fell by €1,199, while Glydee took a bigger hit of €8,703.

Convergence

The reduction in payment is likely due to the ongoing convergence of payments.

Last year, a limit on entitlement values of €700/ha including greening was introduced.

A total of 721 farmers on the highest BPS entitlements of over €700/ha have had their money cut this year.

From now until the next CAP policy is decided, all entitlement values will fall into the range of €154/ha to €700/ha due to convergence.
