In total, local community and development committees (LCDC)received some €17.3m.

Donegal (€1.8m), Waterford (€1.3m) and Kerry (€1.2m) were the counties that received the most money.

Kildare, Longford and Wicklow were at the lower end of the scale, all below €360,000.

Knowledge Transfer

Teagasc received €15.4m, mostly money under the Knowledge Transfer scheme, some of which is subsequently sent to farmers.

Two of the companies in the list of the top 15 companies and organisations this year are producer organisations that received aid, the Commercial Mushroom Producers Group, which received over €4m, and the Quality Green Producer Group.

Also high on the list are the locally led projects; the hen harrier project, the pearl mussel project and the Wicklow uplands scheme.

These will likely feature more prominently on the list going forward.

Last year, only the hen harrier scheme was in the top 15 of companies and organisations receiving CAP money.

A direct payment of €204,765.88 was given to Godolphin Stud, which is owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice-president and prime minister of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Dubai.
