Some 150 creatively decorated silage bales dotted around the south Leitrim town of Drumshanbo?

It could only be the latest rendition of Stylish Silage.

Now in its third year as part of the An Tóstal festival, the Stylish Silage event rewards the most inspiring, creative and altogether mad creations where silage bales are decorated.

Nearly 60 entries were made this year.

Local suckler farmer Enda Horan provided the majority of the bales for decorating.

Climate change, a certain TD’s recent fall from grace and a singing family of sharks were some of the more topical entries this year.

Judging in the fiercely competitive event took place on Saturday 29 June.

The Irish Farmers Journal is one of the title sponsors of the 2019 event, where more than €2,000 in prizes are up for grabs.

Other sponsors include machinery giant McHale and Mulvey's Superstores.

Winners in the family, business and community categories will be announced at a gala wrap party on Saturday 6 July next.
