This year the Irish Farmers Journal launched its #FJSilage2019 competition which is proudly sponspored by Glanbia Connect.
Farmers and contractors from all across the island sent in their best photos of silage activity in their areas.
After a lengthy discussion and much deliberation, five candidates were shortlisted. The overall prize winner will receive a €300 Glanbia Connect voucher and the runners up will receive €50 Glanbia Connect vouchers.

Ronan O'Callaghan claimed the overall prize with his aerial photo of a Massey Ferguson mowing silage:

Here are the five runner-up pictures:
Kyle Cunningham, who sent in this picture of his dog Bailey keeping a tight eye on silage procedures, came second in the competition.
This photo sent in by Declan Carey showing Brian Carey agri contractors working with his John Deere and Pottinger fleet on the beautiful Cliffs of Moher came third.
Mary O'Leary sent in this photo of the McCarthy family at silage in Co Cork. Entitled 'Like father like son', it placed fourth.
This photo of a classy Massey baling with a fusion three baler, sent in by Shauna Walsh, placed fifth in the competition.
