Gillian Kinghan sent in an entry into our harvest photo competition of winter barley being harvested in Durrow, Co Offlay at the end of July. Like many areas, the weather broke in Offaly during August making harvesting a challenge.
Jamie Robb on his first ever outing on a combine harvester with his Granda Liam Robb harvesting Prospect spring malting barley with a Claas Lexion 670 Montana near Newtowncunningham, Co. Donegal. The crop yielded 2.75t/ac at 18.5% moisture content. Proteins came in at 8%.
