An Tánaiste Simon Coveney has reacted angrily to an RTÉ report that the UK has proposed border checks post-Brexit.
The non-paper, believed to have been submitted by the UK to the EU as part of negotiations, outlines how customs checks would work on both sides of the Irish border in an effort to replace the backstop.

Tweeting a response, Coveney said: “Time the EU had a serious proposal from the UK Government if a Brexit deal is to be achievable in October. NI and IRE deserves better!”
