Storm Lorenzo brought heavy rain in many parts of the country, with reports of flooding and power outages on some farms.

In excess of 50mm of rain was expected along the north and northwest coasts of Ireland, with high winds buffeting the country’s shoreline.

It is clear from Met Éireann’s analysis that the northern half of the country was the most severely affected, with some areas experiencing 100mm of rain over a short two-day period.

The heavy rainfall will mean some farmers will expect to house stock earlier than anticipated and start winter feeding.
