A section of the 2006 IFA tractorcade Protest, Portlaoise.
The individual farmers tractor protest will take place next week. The protest is being organised to highlight ongoing farmer dissatisfaction with cattle prices, but also will focus a wider lens on the rural economy. All farm organisations have been asked for their support, but the extent of the response is as yet unclear.
The plan will see tractors assembling from points in the Phoenix Park on Monday evening. Protesters who are walking will assemble at St Stephen’s Green and progress to Kildare Street, where Dáil Éireann is situated. The tractorcade will then proceed into the city on Tuesday morning, being scheduled so as not to impede rush-hour traffic.
