The Beef Plan Movement has announced that it is deferring its county elections until after an EGM on 26 January.
An ongoing disagreement over financial and governance matters between the national committee and co-chairs and founding members Hugh Doyle and Eamon Corley led to the disintegration of elections in Galway last night (Wednesday 8 January).
In a statement from a council representative, the Beef Plan said it would announce a date for national elections after the EGM.

“According to the rules of governance, the national committee of Beef Plan Movement has responsibility for national elections,” the statement said.
“Beef Plan has said that in order to reconcile internal matters, the organisation has no option but to currently defer all county election today until discussions and the organisations EGM has taken place.”
Protests
The group originally spearheaded the blockade of meat factories last summer in protest over low beef prices.
Since then, Beef Plan members including co-chair Eamon Corley and western regional chair Eoin Donnelly have set up separate producer organisations.
The EGM will take place on 26 January at 2pm at Killeshin hotel in Portlaoise.
