Translink, the company which provides public transport in Northern Ireland, is to remove vegan adverts from buses.

Go Vegan ads on buses drew criticism in recent days, with the Ulster Farmers Union (UFU) claiming they wrongly demonised the livestock industry. The UFU wrote to Translink asking it to remove the adverts.

A spokesperson for Translink confirmed the ads would be removed.

Last week, UFU president Ivor Ferguson said: “Our members, many of whom rely on the transportation service of Translink in rural areas and whose children take their buses to school, are outraged by the vegan adverts.”
