Met Éireann has issued a status orange warning for Galway, Donegal and Mayo in advance of the arrival of storm Ciara.
The warning is in place from 1pm Saturday 8 February until 6pm the same day for Galway. The national forecaster stated that average wind speeds will reach up to 80km/h, with gusts of up to 120km/h.
Donegal and Mayo have an orange wind warning in place from 12pm on Saturday 8 February until 4pm the same day.
A nationwide status yellow wind and rain warning in place for the weekend.
Farmers are being urged to take care and not approach fallen trees until the storm has passed and to call the ESB if there are any electrical cables knocked by the storm.
