Four people who took part in the World Hereford Conference in New Zealand have tested positive for COVID-19.

The conference was attended by over 300 cattle enthusiasts from around the world, including a delegation from Ireland.

The New Zealand Hereford Association (NZ Herefords) confirmed that there were four cases, two are from New Zealand, one is from Australia and one is from Uruguay.

The conference attendees have been contacted and asked to self-isolate.

"All attendees were contacted by the Ministry of Health last week (after the first positive test was notified) and again on Saturday night," NZ Herefords said.

NZ Herefords said they are “working closely with the Ministry of Health”.

The number of confirmed cases in New Zealand stands at 66.
