Met Éireann has issued a status yellow thunder warning for all of Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Cork, Tipperary and Waterford.

“Thunderstorms with hail expected again today, mainly in parts of east Munster and Leinster giving severe downpours in places with some surface flooding,” Met Éireann announced on Tuesday morning.

For Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Tipperary and Waterford, the warning is in place until 6am on Wednesday. For Cork, it is in place until 9pm on Tuesday.

"Due to the localised nature of the thunderstorm activity, some areas will miss them completely but areas impacted will see torrential downpours with a risk of local flooding," Met Éireann said.

On Monday evening, a yellow warning for “intense thunderstorms” was in place for Longford, Westmeath, Donegal, Clare, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Cavan, Monaghan and Galway.
