After a couple of days of #golfgate, alongside many downpours, a lot of people will be looking to switch off and relax this weekend.

If it’s a bit of Nextflix TLC you’re looking for, well look no further. From movies to series and documentaries, we’ve got you covered with our top five Netflix recommendations.

1. The Fall

If you like your TV shows dark and suspenseful, then this crime drama is for you. Set in Northern Ireland, a detective superintendent battles her own demons while trying to get inside the head of a serial killer hiding behind a family façade. Interestingly, Jamie Doran of 50 Shades of Grey fame plays the bad guy here.

2. Umbrella Academy

Umbrella Academy is a superhero series based on the comic books of the same name written by Gerard Way. It centres on a family of adopted superhero siblings who reunite after their father’s death to try to prevent an impending apocalypse. It stars Love/Hate’s Robert Sheehan.

3. Athlete A

An American documentary-film - if you’re looking for something hard-hitting, this is the one. Athlete A follows a team of investigative journalists as they break the story of former USA gymnastics national team doctor, Larry Nassar, assaulting female athletes.

4. The Kissing Booth

Put your hand up if a cheesy chick flick is the order of the day. If so, The Kissing Booth is for you. If you’ve seen it, then The Kissing Booth 2 is now also on Netflix. If not, you can watch both. They’re easy, feel-good watches, with plenty of romance.

5. Garth Brooks: The Road I’m on

It’s just over six years since Garth Brooks was supposed to play Croke Park. For those still not over it, this two-part documentary may help. Speaking from his farm in Tennessee, Garth charts his life from his early years through to music success and balancing fame with family life.
