A pen of eight Cheviot crosses that sold for €208/head topped the trade at the Carrick Prolific Ewe Lamb Breeders sale on Friday. Similar pens of lambs from the same farm sold for €176/head and €160/head respectively.

The multi-breed sale saw cross lambs from Suffolk, Belclare, Llynn, Aber, Texel and Charollais rams on offer alongside Mules and Cheviot crosses.

Trade was very positive, with nice quality lots making from €150/head to €170/head for Suffolk and Texel crosses. Mules traded from €120/head to €138/head for heavier and better-quality types, while lighter lots made from €110/head to €120/head.
