Boris Johnson certainly ratched up the apprehension levels this week in both London and Brussels after it emerged the UK government was preparing to undermine keyparts of the Withdrawal Treaty agreed last year by introducing new legislation in the House of Commons called the Internal Market Bill.

On Tuesday, the UK’s secretary of state for Northern Ireland, Brandon Lewis, openly admitted in the House of Commons that the Internal Markets bill would be a breach of international laws.
