College years are enjoyable and serve as an important opportunity to expand your horizons. I studied agricultural science at University College Dublin (UCD), specialising in animal science. It’s a broad degree that offers students the opportunity to focus their studies on an area of agriculture which is of particular interest to them.
Although the college experience can be very daunting at first the feeling becomes much warmer after making friends and settling into the new way of life.
The work experience aspect of your degree is an excellent opportunity to discover what you might like to do after college. During third year I spent four months working with the Irish Farmers Journal. Make the most of meeting new people and discovering what’s out there.
