Milk production in the Netherlands, one of the largest dairy producers in Europe, continues to show steady growth in 2020. Latest production figures from Eurostat show total milk collections from Dutch dairy farms throughout the month of July stood at just over 1.1bn litres, which is up 1% on the same month last year.
This brings Dutch milk production for the first seven months of 2020 to a cumulative 8bn litres, which is more than 2%, or 175m litres, ahead of the same period last year. At this rate of growth, Dutch milk production is on track to reach 13.5bn litres or higher by the end of the year.
UK milk

Meanwhile, milk production in the UK is weaker than last year. For July, UK milk supplies stood at 1.25bn litres, which was down slightly (-0.4%) on the same month last year. This brings UK milk production for the first seven months of 2020 to a cumulative 8.9bn litres, which is down 0.7% on the same period last year.
UK milk production has been weaker for every month so far in 2020 than 2019, with the exception of February which had an extra day due to the leap year. The UK is the third largest dairy producer in Europe after Germany and France.
