Two farmers from different parts of the country are appealing for information into the theft of their quads.

Paul Eyres, a dairy farmer from Cranny, Co Clare, had his Honda 500 quad stolen on the night of Tuesday 22 September.

“My father put it back in the shed on Tuesday. There had been bad rain and we’d usually leave it [hidden] in the yard.

“The next morning at 7am when we went out it was gone. They had closed the door to the shed [after they took it]. It would take two lads to close it,” he told the Irish Farmers Journal.

The serial number of the quad is ihfte318764600691.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are investigating the theft of a quad bike from a shed in Cranny, Co Clare, that occurred on the night of Tuesday 22 September 2020.

“No arrests have been made at this time. Investigations are ongoing.”

Monaghan theft

In a separate theft, on 28 September, David Stirrat from Ballinode, Co Monaghan, reported to gardaí that his Honda 500 quad was stolen.

“It was taken from the yard. We noticed it missing from the shed. We had nothing locked, but they opened the gates and closed up after them.

“It disappeared off the face of the earth,” Stirrat, a fencing contractor and dairy farmer, said.

Stirrat said his quad has bad scrapes on the front right fern.

Anyone with information on the quads should contact the gardaí.
