Three mid-sized land holdings are on the market in Co Westmeath and Co Cavan, courtesy of Mullingar auctioneers James L Murtagh. The three blocks of land are non-residential and currently in grass.

The largest is 40ac at Martinstown which is near Delvin, Co Westmeath. This holding is laid out in one large division. It’s in permanent pasture but it’s clean and in good condition. It’s good land. Padraig Murtagh tells Irish Country Living that the guide price on this land is €360,000, or €9,000/ac.

The second block of land in the county is 25ac located at Corbally, Castlepollard.

Over half of the land here at Corbally, Castlepollard was reseeded in recent years and it is still a good sward. The guide price of this holding is: €150,000.

The holding is out the R195 from Castlepollard. Again, this holding is in one block. Part of the land – over 15ac – was reseeded in recent years and is in very good condition. It’s in four paddocks and there are hardcore roadways throughout, giving access to each paddock. “This is top-class land, as good as you get,” Padraig Murtagh says.

The other 10ac needs improvement. It would then be suitable for grazing but could also be of interest for forestry. The guide price on this entire holding is €150,000, or €6,000/ac.

Finally, the firm is selling a 25ac block at Mountnugent, Co Cavan.

This is the 25ac block of elevated land for sale at Mountnugent in Cavan. There are sand and gravel deposits under part of this holding. The guide price is €120,000.
This is elevated land. While the holding is all in one block, it lends itself to being divided in two – so it’s being offered for sale in three lots.

Lot 1 is 13ac including 1.8ac of turbary. Lot 2 is the other 12ac – and this is good high and dry land, according to Padraig. There are possible sand gravel deposits under this land. Lot 3 is the entire. The guide price of this entire holding is €120,000.
